Congratulations to our Q3 Volunteer of the Quarter – Sabrina Godfrey! Sabrina serves as the Director of Social Media on the Communications team for AMA Tampa Bay, and is an essential member of our volunteer team. She has a huge responsibility in making sure that AMA Tampa Bay keeps up a positive and professional social media presence, and is instrumental in keeping all of our members engaged and connected. Read on to hear more from Sabrina on her favorite parts of volunteering for our Chapter.
How did you originally get involved with the AMA and what was your path to joining as a volunteer?
I became involved with AMA Tampa Bay after hearing about the group from colleagues who spoke very highly of their time as members. After attending a few of the luncheons and the Marketer of the Year awards ceremony, I inquired about volunteer opportunities and joined the team to assist with social media. After several months with the team, the Director of Social Media role became available and I was excited for the challenge to not only contribute more to the team, but to also gain real experience and keep up with the ever-changing trends in social media marketing.
What is your favorite part about being a volunteer with the AMA Tampa Bay?
My favorite part of volunteering with AMA Tampa Bay is the sense of community it provides. The connections I’ve made, in only a short time as as a member and volunteer, have already started to open new doors and learning opportunities, helping me to advance in my career.
What have you learned from being a part of the AMA?
In my time with AMA Tampa Bay, I’ve learned how truly important it is to learn as much as you can from others and their experiences. The speakers that AMA Tampa Bay brings in are next-level talented individuals. I’ve been able to take so much of the information they’ve shared and apply those best practices at my own organization.
What has been your favorite AMA event to date?
While each of the AMA Tampa Bay events that I have attended have been unique and valuable, I have to say that the last Marketer of The Year awards ceremony was my favorite so far. The entire evening is full of excitement and every little detail is well planned out. From the venue and the ambiance, to the entertainment and the food, it’s a truly special event. Plus, there is just something to be said about being in a room that is full of so much incredible talent, and the sense of pride you feel for our Tampa Bay community of professional marketers. I’m looking forward to the next Market of the Year event!
What do you do in your day job?
I’m part of the Digital Marketing team at my company, Monin Gourmet Flavorings, responsible for managing, developing, and optimizing our brand’s digital footprint as it relates to web, social, e-commerce and email marketing. As the brand of choice among café and bar professionals worldwide, Monin is the leader in premium flavorings for cocktails, coffees, culinary applications and more.
If you didn’t work in marketing, what kind of work do you think you would do?
What I enjoy most about being a marketer is the fact that it provides a creative outlet and at the end of the day, it’s all about making connections with people. If I didn’t work in marketing, I think I’d really enjoy working in the home improvement field. I like flipping furniture pieces and working with my hands, outside of an office environment. I think helping people to develop a creative vision and bring their home projects to life could be a truly rewarding experience.
