Join AMA Tampa Bay’s Keynote Luncheon featuring Bill Potts, CMO of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, on Thursday March 8. Bill will share how CMA went from near-bankruptcy to a thriving aquarium focused on rescue, rehabilitation and release – as well as the source and site for the wildly popular Dolphin Tail movies.
While swimming in the ocean, a young dolphin gets caught in a trap and severely damages her tail. Though she is rescued and transported to Clearwater Marine Hospital, her tail cannot be saved and the prognosis is dire. What the dolphin, now named Winter, needs, is a miracle. She gets that miracle in the form of a marine biologist and two prosthetics designers who find a way to help Winter swim again.
Winter’s miracle became the saving grace for CMA as her story went viral on local and national news outlets, generating widespread support and public interest. Bill will share how CMA took a small marketing budget that was focused on traditional paid media and leveraged a digital and PR campaign to tell Winter’s inspiring story and resuscitate the failing aquarium and marine hospital.
